Qualitative research project proposal

Research Project Proposal

Q Your qualitative research project should involve the analysis of narrative/text responses of some kind on a topic that interests you. The most common approach will be to construct a interview, focus group, or participant observation protocol, and include several open response questions that invite longer answers from which you will collect, analyze, code, and summarize the responses. Remember that the goal of qualitative research is to answer deeper questions like "why?" and "how?" You qualitative research project proposal is worth 15 points and needs the following elements: 1. Topic of interest 2. Population of interest 3. Overall research questions – at least 2 research questions 4. Research method expected to be used – interviews, focus group, participant observation, survey or something else, and why? (see this table comparing interviews and focus groups https://researchplaybook.wordpress.com/2010/01/21/when-and-why-to-choose-focus-groups-vs-one-on-one-interviews/ (Links to an external site.)) 5. Statement of significance – why this research matters 6. Your own (subjective) relationship to the topic and overall research questions 7. How you will get access to the population of interest and how you plan to collect responses 8. Sample statement at the beginning of the interview or survey following the guidelines for ethical research informed consent. (See section 4.4.2 in the text.) You can earn 2 points of extra credit by returning to this discussion and commenting on two other proposals by Saturday at 11:59pm with a response for each that covers • What two strengths does this proposal have? • What are two questions you have, or two ideas you have about the research questions?

Patients with schizophrenia are commonly observed in different mental health rehabilitation centers. Those patients usually possess delusional beliefs based on factual realities and hallucinations. Schizophrenia patients lose contact with reality, and the symptoms can only be managed and not fully treated. However, the onset of schizophrenia has been linked with different biological, psychological, and social factors. Genetics and traumatic experiences are the most prominent factors in the development of schizophrenia.
